Ambleside Homestead – Outdoor Wedding Venue, Melbourne Wedding Celebrant
Ambleside Homestead – Outdoor Wedding Venue
Ambleside Homestead – A magnificent historic homestead perfect for an outdoor wedding located on over two acres of land. This beautiful homestead was formerly a farmhouse built in 1899. Many of the trees and plants in the gardens were planted in 1870 and these formed part of the gardens of the original farmhouse. The main grounds and period gazebo are available for garden weddings and wedding photographs. This is a great homestead for an outdoor wedding venue or a garden ceremony in Ferntree Gully, Eastern Melbourne.
Ambleside Homestead is also home to Knox Historical Society’s local history museum. The beautiful gardens are currently maintained by both the Knox Council and Knox Historical Society. Purchased originally from the Crown in 1872, the Homestead was part of 210 acres of land and in 1890 the homestead replaced the original old farmhouse which is still on the property next to the old shed. Ambleside Homestead is a modest comfortable farmhouse built with Hawthorn bricks with verandahs on three sides.
Ambleside Park was named after Ambleside in the Lakes District in England.
In 1970 the homestead and land was bequeathed to Knox Council so that everybody could enjoy the gardens and the history.
